I love music, it's got me through a lot. It still does. So here are a few of my favourite bands/singers. I've also listed what's on my current playlist and who I recommend.

My Vitriol
My favourite band. They have their own page on this site. Please click
here or the the link at the side to go and learn all about them an their music.

Bullet for my Valentine
They released their first EP, Bullet For My Valentine, on November 15, 2004 through Visible Noise in the UK, and on November 30, 2004 in the US through Trustkill Records. A second EP, Hand of Blood, was released on August 22, 2005 through Trustkill Records in the US only.
Their debut album The Poison was released in the UK on October 3, 2005. The first single from "The Poison," called "Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow (What Can I Do)", was released on September 19, 2005.
The band recently completed a headline run on the Kerrang! XXV tour at which on the final night in Brixton Academy they filmed footage for their new DVD. This DVD was their first release on Columbia Records.
Matthew Tuck (frontman) has told Kerrang! magazine, "We've written eight new songs already, we're going to be recording the new record at the end of the year so we're just trying to get a big head start." The band will record their new album in El Paso, Texas later in the year.
BFMV released "All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)" as a single in the U.S. to radio airways the second week in January. Around that time they returned to the studio to record their follow up to The Poison. According to Metal Hammer magazine all of the instrumental work on the new album is done, but the vocals will have to wait until BFMV finish their U.S. tour, which will continue all summer. If all goes as planned they are set to release their second album in October, which was first reported as early as June. The band are said to have taken on a "Slayer, early Metallica old - school thrash sound, coming away from the melodic romance themes".

Jamie Cullum
:: Jamie ::I love the cool tones of Jamies' voice and Jazz is something I've liked from a distance but never really listened to. Jamie has opened that up for me. I've started listening to other Jazz artists; modern and the greats.
Jamie is British, coming from Wiltshire he played around with all sorts of music before finding his niche. He started out going for an academic career but he found it frustrating not to be able to focus on his music. He began by taking a year off and travelling around the world, listening to and playing live music in bars. His very first album was funded with his own money. The CD was a hit at his gigs selling over 700 copies.
From there on in, he met different people who helped develop his career, such as Clare Teal and Michael Parkinson. Both Clare and Michael had a hand in helping create the artist we know today.
This is not for everyone, it's Jazz with a mainstream twist, which as Jamie has proved can be a good thing.

Evanescence
Evanescence are relatively new but so are many bands these days. The band it's self are as new as the album as they've been through many changes before they got the recording contract.   Their debut album is called Fallen and is fan-bloody-tastic! It was released on 28/04/2003 and stayed around the top of the album chart for a good few months, going to number one and back on occasions. The album features four singles; My Immortal, Going Under, Bring me to Life & Everybody's fool. My Immortal is a beautiful ballad and even worth a listen if you don't like emo-rock.
They are American (from the state of Arkansas. Where? I hear you cry! Got me.) but they are so good that I think we can forgive them for that. The band consists of Amy Lee, Ben Moody, Rocky Gray, John LeCompt and Will Boyd.
Their music has been described as Linkin Park with a girl.  Which is probably true, just don't say that to Amy Lee (she's the lead singer).
Evanescence have released their second album The open door.  It is however in my opinion not as good as the first. While Call me when you're sober is a great track I can not say this is something that is ever going to live on my stereo. Which is a shame because they were great.
If you want some really great fan made pictures and wallpaper, check out the official website.

Fratellis
I was listening to Franz Ferdinand the other day and realised that they were the poor mans version of the Fratellis. You could describe this as the kind of music that you have for a drunken sing-along and that would be true, but this is so much more. The music doesn't fail to make me smile or sing along.  If they were British I'd call it the new Brit Pop but since they are Scottish I can't.
The Fratellis played their first ever gig on March 4, 2005 in the O'Henry's bar in Glasgow, and have since made their breakthrough year in 2006. They started as a four piece with Mince as the lead guitarist, but soon changed to a three piece with Mince on drums after finding that it better suited them that way. They were discovered by their manager Tony Fratelli in McChuills Bar, Glasgow and then quickly signed by Fallout records after just 9 gigs. Different sources suggest different origins for the name of the band. The word "fratelli" in Italian means "brothers", however as the band's members are not brothers this does not serve as an explanation. Some claim it derives from the 1985 movie The Goonies; however, the band denied this live on air on BBC Radio 2's Jonathan Ross Show on 9 September, 2006. Others tell of the band forming from a four-piece band who would play at weddings. However in an interview in The Sun newspaper, it is implied that the name is taken from bassist Barry, whose original surname is reportedly Fratelli, the other members of the band simply adopting that as a pseudonym. NME ran a two page feature on The Fratellis in the August 10, 2006 issue proclaiming them "the best new band in Britain".
The band met after drummer Mince placed an ad in Glasgow musical instrument retailer Sound Control. So as not to upset a band he was in at the time, he placed the ad under a different name. The ad apparently asked for band members "looking to conquer the world". There is speculation about this as other sources claim that they met while they were working on a fairground.

Madonna
What can I say about Madonna that hasn't already been said? Nothing.... Although this might surprise you. I hate her early work, it after the Vogue era that I start to find her music much more to my liking. The first album that I really liked of hers was the Ray of Light album, it had so many tracks on it that made me want to hum. I only own 4 Madonna albums; Something to Remember, Ray of Light, Music & Confession on a Dancefloor. These are the ones that I love.
The new album Confessions on a Dancefloor, is the best music of her's  I've heard coming out of the stereo. I really really love this album. All of the song on the album rate 4 out of 5 or higher. Sorry is a particular favourite of mine. She also won Best international Artist at the Brit Awards 2006. She has come a long way from her early days. Plus she's got a fantastic body, if only I could look that good.

My Chemical Romance
I've recently fallen in love with this band. All due to the album Welcome to the Black Parade. I heard this song and liked it because it was cheezey and unashamedly so. This album is a cross between, punk, metal, ballads, pop & emo. It's funny, thought provoking and serious all at the same time. I can find fault with this album, there are tracks that I don't particularly love but none that I hate at all. It has me singing along. And as much as I love Opeth, I will always put on MCR first because I can sing along to it.
MCR are made up of Gerrard Way (vocals),
Mikey Way (Bass), Frank Iero (Rhythm Guitar), Ray Toro (Lead Guitar) & Bob Byrar (Drums). Formed in 2001 they first released I Brought you my Bullets, you Brought me your love in 2002. This is a much darker album than any of their later releases but has many brilliant tracks on it. The second album Three cheers for sweet revenge, like the third is a concept album. This album was about two young lovers who die in a gun fight. This was the one that first brought them to mainstream attention. Backed with a major label and a lot of touring as the support for artists such as Green Day. The album slowly made it's way up the charts. Helena is one of the better known singles off the album, written about Gerrads & Mikeys Grandmother.
The currently album Welcome to the Black Parade, features the No1 single of the same name and the forthcoming single Famous Last Words. I would call this mainstream metal. It's has ballads, melody and it's fair share of punk & metal thrown in. It gets classified as anything to pop to emo to metal. It's defiantly not for everyone and it's not the same as their earlier work either but not a totally new album either. If you like this you will like Foo Fighters, AFI, Lost Prophets and the like.

Gary Numan
So I've recently discovered Gary Numan. An album called Pure. I know little of the man himself most people my age will know him best from the classic song Cars. His more recent work takes him into the more grunge end of the electronic music market.
His current album is called Jagged and is fantastic, well worth a listen.

Prince
Born Rogers Nelson, 7 June 1958, he was born into a musical family, both his mother and his father being jazz musicians. Princes' music can best be described as a combination of Jazz, Blues, Funk, Soul, Rock & Rock 'n' Roll.
Prince came back with Musicology, and I mean back. He's always been good, there was a slight blip in his career when he made music that tickled his own fancy (nothing wrong with that though, some of it was much to my liking but not very commercial, whixh in itself is not a bad thing). Now he's returned with the intention of showing everyone in the music business how it's done. This is the best of his work in a long time, if anything this album should make you realise one thing, his name is Prince and he is funky.

Scissor Sisters
:: Scissor Sisters ::
A five piece group of the unofficial capital of America, New York. They are quite simply divine. On their debut album of the same name they take on every genre and great artist you could ever think of. That doesn't mean it's something that you will have heard before. They are the real meaning of alternative. In other words nothing you've ever heard before. Their style is new and old and while sometimes they may look like a joke, their music certainly certainly is not.
The first album features the singles comfortably numb, Laura & Take your mama. Do yourself a favour and go and buy this album. You won't be disappointed. The second album Ta-dah has all the class, charm and sublime melodies of the first, and features the single I don't feel like dancing, which hit the number one spot late in 2006. This is an example of pop at it's best.

Robbie Williams
:: mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Robbie Williams ::
In February of 1974 a boy as born by the name of Robert Peter Williams. First he joined a boy band, who shall remain nameless as they were, well a bit rubbish. Then he left before everyone realised how rubbish they actually were and went off the rails a little.
That's when we got the one and only Robbie Williams. The entertainer, the sex god, the music man. He's short, he got green eyes and he's generally lovely.
I've only seen him live on stage once and I loved every single second of it. It was at the Milton Keynes bowl on the 21st of July 2001. If you've seen Rob on stage live you'll know what I'm talking about. If you've only seen him on the telly or on DVD you don't know what you've missed.  My favourite song is Strong, as it talks to me not Angels which is the one that really made him famous. Of his albums it's I've Been Expecting you, which features Strong and a few other anthems of my life. I have to say that while Escapology was a good album, featuring some very good tracks. Rudebox was a crushing disappointment, full of under constructed, over produced, badly written pop tracks. It seems the boy has lost his charm.
