Sarah
Sarah is played by Jennifer Connelly.
Sarah is a young girl who lives with her father
and Stepmother. She is still grieving the loss of
her mother and will not accept her stepmother and
stepbrother Toby. This is demonstrated by the
pictures of her mother around her mirror and her
reaction to her stepmother. Sarah comes across as
a fairly self centred person, with a big
imagination although she seems to be fairly
trapped in it. She uses it to escape any part of
reality that she doesn't like, surrounding
herself with toys and fantasy figures. She is
left in charge of Toby one weekend when her
parents go out and uses her imagination to cope
with his constant crying which in the end causes
all the trouble.
The Labyrinth teaches Sarah many things
including that life isn't fair. She learns to relay on herself
and others at the same time. Sarah grows a lot as a person in
the Labyrinth releasing that she does love her Stepbrother and
learns to accept her Stepmother. |

Jareth
HRH Jareth is played by
David
Bowie. Jareth is the Goblin King, and ruler of
the Labyrinth. He takes Toby away and challenges
Sarah to defeat him. It appears as if no one has
been able to solve the Labyrinth before. He seems
to enjoy the challenge that Sarah provides him
with as if it is a distraction from a life he is
otherwise bored with. He is also very cruel and
careless and at one point throws Toby up into the
air not bothering to catch him, (he is however
caught by a troll). Jareth soon comes enchanted
by Sarah who challenges him, to the point where
he wishes that she would stay with him.
"Love
me, fear me, do as I say and I will be your slave"
David Bowie also wrote five songs for the film
called Magic Dance, Chilly Down,
As the World Falls Down, Within You
And Underground. Underground is
used in the opening and closing titles of the
film.
Just like many other people who have Labyrinth sites I am a
little in love with Jareth. He's cruel dispassionate and in need
of attention. He stunningly handsome and can give s girl
anything she's ever wanted if she does exactly what he wants.
The perfect man.

Hoggle
The first creature Sarah meets on the
outside of the Labyrinth. Hoggle is a self
confessed coward and someone Jareth takes great
pleasure in picking on. Sarah
teaches him that if he really wants to be happy
he must be true to himself, stop being a coward
and stand up to Jareth. |

Ludo
Sarah found him hanging upside
down being tortured by a group of helmeted
Goblins. Ludo is a large but
gentle creature who has the ability to call on
rocks to help him.

Sir Didyimis
and his trusty steed Ambrosious have guarded the bridge over the
"Bog of Eternal Stench" for many a year.
No one has ever crossed the bridge without his
permission and it seems that no one before Sarah
has thought to ask. Sir Didyimis turns out to be
a loyal and brave companion even when out
numbered and out sized. |

Cleaners
They
clean the tunnels in the Labyrinth. |
| |
Door
Knockers
Knock
and they'll let you in, but they don't know where to. |
| |
Faeries
Faeries
in the Labyrinth don't do the things we think that faeries do.
They don't grant wishes or do nice things. They bite. They are
pests which while they may look pretty aren't very good at all,
one of the many things in the Labyrinth that isn't what it
seems. |
| |
False
Alarms
These
guys pop up only of you're going the right way. Don't listen to
them. |
| |
Firey's
Have
a great sense of fun, but don't know when to stop. |

These

to the castle, the top two do, but one always lies and one
always tells the truth. Can you work out which is which? |
| |
Goblins
Very
mischievous little things who like taking babies and going all
things bad.
You know when you lose your keys? They hid them. |
| |
Helping
Hands
If
you chose the wrong door you'll find the helping hands. These
hands are here to help. They will take you up or down. |
| |
Junk
Lady
Will

real value. |
| |
Wiseman
Will
give you advice which may not seem much but is what you really
need to hear |
| |
Worms
They
may not know much as they are only worms, but they can give you
help if you know the right questions to ask. And if they ask you
in for tea, go if you have the time but be polite if you don't.
They are only trying to help.
